Ngorongoro Conservation Area is located 180 km west of Arusha in the crater highland area of northern Tanzania and Southeast of Serengeti National Park and is home to the vast volcanic Caldera Ngorongoro Crater and the “big five” game (Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Buffalo, and Rhino) and large numbers of wildebeest trek the conservation area during their annual migration and large herds of the livestock of the semi-nomadic Maasai tribe graze alongside wild animals.
The Ngorongoro Crater is breathtaking natural wonder about 20 km across, 600 m deep and 300km2 in the area with its own climate and the largest unflooded and unbroken caldera in the world and one of Africa’s greatest famous site with the highest density of wildlife in Africa.
The crater is often sometimes described as the ‘eighth wonder of the world’ with an ever-increasing number of tourists every year. Its rim is over 2,200 meters high and experiences its own climate while the swathes of cloud hang around the rocky rim most days of the Year and get chilly at night.
The crater floor consists of a large number of different habitats that include the grassland, swamps, forests, rivers and Lake Makat (Soda Lake filled by the Munge River). All these attract huge wildlife to drink, graze, hide, wallow and climb.

3. Cultural Encounters.
There are a large number of the Masai tribe people living in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Essentially Nomadic people, they build temporary villages in circular homesteads called Bomas.
