EXPLORING ARUSHA NATIONAL PARK
Arusha National Park is a moderately small park, occupying an area of 137 km2, and situated in Arusha town. This park and the town deliver their name from the Warusha people who traditionally settled in this area, however, the park also overlays into areas where the Masai lived and major place names in the park are of Masai Origin. The park has three distinct areas which are the Ngurdoto Crater, the Momella Lakes, and the rugged mountain Meru. The vegetation found in the park is related to the altitude and geology of the area. Ngurdoto Crater is surrounded by forest. The Momella Lakes are alkaline.
The Park is nestled on the foothills of Mountain Meru, a dormant stratovolcano of an elevation of 4,565 m and Africa’s most beautiful and 5th highest peak located 70 km west of Mount Kilimanjaro in Arusha Region, Tanzania
Arusha National Park offers too many attractions which include the unforgiving landscapes of Mount Meru and Ash Cone, Tropical Forest glades, Scenic view of Momella Lakes, and Ngurdoto Crater and this is the only place where game viewing can be done from a canoe. The park is greatly featured with a number of Tourist attraction which includes the;
Ngurdoto Crater. This swampy Crater is a habitat for a large variety of animals and a famous point for game driving. In this area, you will find the Cape Buffalo, Monkeys, Baboons, Elephants, and a number of antelopes in this place. The crater is surrounded by the Ngurdoto Forest home to playful black and white colobus monkeys
Ngurdoto Museum. This houses n impressive collection of various animals, insects, and birds that can be found in the Arusha National Park.
Lake Longil. This is the only freshwater lake and a prominent watering hole for buffalos and waterbucks in Arusha National Park.
Tululusia Hill. This is a known hiking and camping area that provides tourists a clear view of the lower trek of Arusha National Park as well as Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro. It is such a heavily forested region of the park inhabiting Elephants, The Red duiker, Leopards, Buffalos, and many more.

- Game drives and Watching

- Canoeing on Lake Momella.
The Momella Lakes are within the Arusha National park. There are actually seven (7) shallow lakes in number which include the Big Momella, Small Momella, Tulusia, Rishateni, Kusare, Lekandiro, and El Kekhotoito. These lakes are alkaline with considerable algae growth and a good destination for a peaceful and scenic canoeing safari on the shore of small Momella Lake.
Canoeing safari on this lake is a 2 – 21/2 hour and during this session you can view buffalos, bushbucks, hippo living in and close to the water.
